French Clubs Villeurbanne and Monaco Eye Israeli League Star Kyler Edwards for EuroLeague Move

Kyler Edwards, a standout player in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, is attracting interest from two French EuroLeague clubs, Villeurbanne and Monaco, according to reports from bebasket. Edwards recently completed his contract with Hapoel HaEmek and had previously been linked to Hapoel Tel Aviv. He has been a top scorer in the Israeli league for two consecutive seasons, averaging 19.5 points with Maccabi Netanya and 18.9 points with Hapoel HaEmek.

Both French teams are entering the transfer market late this season due to various reasons and are exploring players with profiles similar to Edwards. Villeurbanne, in particular, is reportedly impressed by Edwards despite his playing history not matching some of their previous backcourt signings like Armoni Brooks and Nick Weiler-Babb. Edwards has prior experience in France, having joined Dijon in the summer of 2024. While his French league averages were modest at 8.9 points per game with a 34% shooting rate, he performed better in the EuroCup, averaging 11.5 points on 56% shooting, along with 2.5 rebounds and 3 assists.

During his year and a half in the Israeli Winner League, Edwards demonstrated consistent scoring, with only two games below 10 points, compared to four such games in just eight appearances for Dijon. This potential move could represent a significant step up for Edwards as he aims to compete at the EuroLeague level.
