Blue Bird Airways Expands Direct Flights from Tel Aviv to Four Italian Cities
Greek airline Blue Bird Airways is expanding its operations from Israel to Italy, launching direct flights from Tel Aviv to four Italian destinations starting September 2026. In addition to Bergamo (Milan), where flights have operated since May 2026, the airline will add Rome, Bologna, and Naples to its route network. This expansion makes Italy a core destination for Blue Bird from Ben Gurion Airport.
The airline plans to offer frequent flights to provide travelers with greater flexibility for vacations and business trips, as well as diverse travel options across Italy. Flight schedules from September 2026 include: Rome service beginning September 3 with three weekly flights, increasing to daily flights from September 13; Bologna flights starting September 2 with three weekly flights on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; Naples flights commencing September 16 with two weekly flights on Wednesday and Friday, increasing to three weekly flights from September 25; and daily flights to Bergamo.
Amir Shagai, Vice President of Blue Bird Airways and TUS Air, stated that Italy remains one of the most popular vacation destinations for Israelis, supported by rising demand and Ben Gurion Airport passenger data. He emphasized that the combination of multiple destinations, high frequencies, and competitive prices starting at 270 euros round-trip will drive continued growth in passenger traffic between the countries.
