Israeli Police Arrest Dozens Including Crime Boss in Southern Extortion Crackdown

An undercover police officer working with the Southern District Police (Yam'ar Negev) uncovered an extortion scheme targeting business owners in Beersheba. On Tuesday, the Israel Police, led by the Lachish District (Yam'ar Lachish) and the Border Police's National Guard fighters, arrested dozens of suspects across southern Israel. The suspects are accused of involvement in extortion, protection rackets, threats, and other criminal offenses.

In the early hours of Wednesday, the police moved to the open phase of the operation, conducting widespread raids on the homes of suspects in Ashdod, Kiryat Gat, and other locations nationwide. The raids resulted in the arrest of dozens of individuals linked to the criminal network.

The operation was overseen by Police Commissioner Chaim Bublil and Deputy Commissioner Danny Levi, highlighting the significance of the crackdown on organized crime in the region. The arrests mark a major step in combating protection rackets and related criminal activities in southern Israel.
