Nir Klinger Reveals Why Roy Revivo's Transfer to Spain Is Stalled

Maccabi Tel Aviv is facing a challenging summer transfer window, with several players receiving offers from abroad. One notable case is defender Roy Revivo, who is reportedly wanted by Spanish club Elche. Nir Klinger disclosed the reasons behind the stalled move during a discussion in the press box.

Klinger explained that Revivo earns 150,000 euros per season at Maccabi Tel Aviv, one of the lowest salaries on the team. About two weeks ago, Revivo's Serbian agent received a verbal offer from Elche worth 3 million euros. However, Maccabi Tel Aviv responded with a counteroffer, demanding 20% of any future sale instead of the 5% initially proposed by Elche, that Revivo relinquish 15% of his own transfer rights, and that no agent fees be paid. These three conditions caused the deal to collapse, and Elche never submitted a formal written offer.

Klinger added that Maccabi Tel Aviv may have valid reasons to complicate the transfer, as they currently lack a suitable replacement. Two foreign players, Andrade and Nicolescu, remain registered on the squad, preventing the club from signing another foreign player in Revivo's place. Revivo had wanted to leave last year but was asked to stay for another season. The issue is not the transfer fee but the percentage of rights held by Revivo.

Importantly, Klinger clarified that Revivo did not boycott the recent match against Sheriff Tiraspol. Instead, he approached coach Kenny Miller to ask not to play because he was not focused and feared harming both himself and the team. Klinger emphasized that Revivo should not be blamed for this situation.
