Nir Klinger Reveals What Blocks Roy Revivo's Transfer to Spanish Club Elche

Maccabi Tel Aviv faces a challenging transfer window this summer, with several players attracting offers from abroad. One notable case is defender Roy Revivo, who is reportedly wanted by Spanish club Elche. Nir Klinger disclosed the key reasons preventing Revivo's move to Spain during a discussion in the press box.

Klinger explained that Revivo earns 150,000 euros per season at Maccabi Tel Aviv, one of the lowest salaries on the team. About two weeks ago, his Serbian agent received a verbal offer from Elche worth 3 million euros. However, Maccabi Tel Aviv responded with a counteroffer, demanding 20% of any future sale (compared to the 5% initially proposed by Elche), that Revivo relinquish his own 15% stake in his transfer rights, and that no agent fees be paid. These three conditions have stalled the deal, and Elche has not submitted a formal written offer.

Klinger noted that Maccabi Tel Aviv may have valid reasons to complicate the transfer, as they currently lack a suitable replacement. Two foreign players, Andrade and Nicolescu, remain on the roster, and the club cannot sign another foreign player in their place. Revivo had wanted to leave last year, but the club asked him to stay for another season. Klinger emphasized that the issue is not the transfer fee offered by Elche but the percentage of rights held by Revivo.

Additionally, Klinger clarified that Revivo did not boycott a recent match against Sheriff Tiraspol. Instead, he approached coach Kenny Miller to request not to play because he was not focused and feared harming both himself and the club. Klinger stressed that Revivo should not be blamed for this incident.
