Land Rover Unveils Defender OCTA With 635 HP and Advanced Off-Road Tech

Land Rover has officially revealed the Defender OCTA, its extreme off-road version designed to compete with the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 and Ford Bronco Raptor. The name OCTA is inspired by the octahedron, a diamond-shaped geometric figure symbolizing the vehicle's toughness and rarity, akin to a diamond. The Defender OCTA will be available in Israel in 2025, though pricing and exact arrival dates are yet to be announced by "HaMizrah," Land Rover's Israeli importer.

Visually, the OCTA differs subtly from other Defender models, featuring blacked-out trims, expanded wheel arches to accommodate larger tires, a 2.8 cm height and 6.8 cm width increase, aluminum skid plates, and distinctive OCTA badges on the front, sides, and inside the cabin. It offers two exclusive colors, matte green and copper, with unique 20- or 22-inch wheels. The rear includes blacked-out details and dual exhaust outlets linked to an active exhaust system that enhances the sporty sound.

Under the hood, the Defender OCTA is powered by an updated 4.4-liter V8 engine with micro-hybrid assistance and twin turbochargers, delivering 635 horsepower and 76.4 kgm of torque, 105 hp more than the Range Rover's version. It pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission and features launch control, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds.

The vehicle boasts a comprehensive upgrade in suspension and handling, including a new geometry suspension system with 6D Dynamic technology that uses hydraulic links and active dampers for height and roll control, improving stability during acceleration, braking, and cornering. Braking is enhanced with Brembo 400 mm front discs, a heavier and quicker steering system, and 33-inch Goodyear Advanced All-Terrain tires. A new OCTA driving mode tailored for off-road conditions complements the existing drive modes, maximizing the vehicle's upgraded capabilities.
