Range Rover Launches All-Electric Model with 600km Range
Land Rover has officially entered the electric vehicle era with the launch of the all-electric Range Rover. This new model replaces the traditional V8 engines with dual electric motors, delivering a combined 550 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. A 118.5 kWh battery provides a claimed range of 600 kilometers, with real-world estimates around 535 kilometers. The electric Range Rover accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, making it quicker than its gasoline counterpart.
Despite the shift to electric power, Land Rover emphasizes that the "first and foremost Range Rover, only then electric" philosophy ensures the vehicle retains its signature off-road capabilities and luxurious refinement. The design remains largely unchanged, with minor aerodynamic tweaks. The battery placement lowers the center of gravity by approximately 10 centimeters, enhancing stability on and off-road. The vehicle maintains impressive off-road credentials, including a 45-degree climbing ability and the capacity to ford water up to 90 centimeters deep.
The electric Range Rover is the most technologically advanced Land Rover ever produced, with over 300 patent applications filed during its development. Extensive testing was conducted in extreme conditions, including temperatures from -40°C in Sweden to the hot deserts of Dubai, and over 1.5 million kilometers of road and off-road testing. Production will be centered at Land Rover's original Solihull plant, with over 10,000 specially trained employees involved.
The electric Range Rover is expected to arrive in Israel in 2027, with pricing yet to be determined. While current internal combustion engine Range Rover models in Israel range from 1,200,000 to 1,480,000 shekels, estimates based on US pricing suggest a potential cost around 1,200,000 shekels or less, depending on Israeli taxation. The vehicle supports 350 kW fast charging, capable of replenishing the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes.
Land Rover aims to maintain the Range Rover's reputation for a rare combination of on-road and off-road prowess, coupled with exceptional comfort and refinement. The quiet operation of the electric motors is expected to further enhance the sense of refinement. An exclusive "First Edition" trim will be offered to select customers in various premium color options.
