Land Rover Launches Extreme Defender OCTA Model in Israel with Upgraded Off-Road Capabilities

Land Rover's Israeli importer, "HaMizrah," has introduced the extreme Defender OCTA version to the local market, expanding the Defender lineup that already includes the 90, 110, and 130 models. Since 2020, 778 Defenders have been sold in Israel. The OCTA, revealed in July 2024, is positioned as a high-performance off-road vehicle directly competing with the Mercedes AMG G63, with prices starting at 1.5 million shekels.

The Defender OCTA is available only in the 110 configuration and features a 4.4-liter V8 engine developed in collaboration with BMW, delivering 635 horsepower and 76.4 kgm of torque, boosted to 81.5 kgm with launch control. This powertrain enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 to 4.2 seconds, depending on tires. It includes a 48-volt mild hybrid system, active exhaust for enhanced sound, and Brembo brakes with 400 mm discs.

Off-road enhancements include a new 6D Dynamic suspension with hydraulic links and active dampers, air suspension, and 33-inch tires. Ground clearance reaches 25 cm in normal mode and 32.3 cm when raised, surpassing the standard Defender 110. Approach, departure, and breakover angles are improved, and water fording capability is rated at 100 cm. Terrain Response 2 with an OCTA mode and dynamic program is standard.

The vehicle sports a rugged exterior with unique bumpers, side vents, a graphite-finished skid plate, and blacked-out roof and tailgate. Inside, it offers luxury features such as matrix LED headlights, panoramic roof, electrically adjustable heated and ventilated seats, an 11.4-inch infotainment screen, Meridian sound system with 15 speakers, wireless charging, and advanced safety systems including adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, and collision prevention.

Three trims are available: the base OCTA at 1,511,000 shekels, the Black edition with all-black styling at 1,622,000 shekels, and the Edition One with carbon fiber accents and bronze calipers at 1,666,800 shekels. Off-road tire options include Michelin Primacy all-season, BF Goodrich Trail Terrain, and Goodyear DuraTrac RT, with top speeds varying accordingly from 160 to 250 km/h.
