Land Rover Launches High-Performance Defender OCTA Model in Israel Starting at 1.5 Million Shekels

Land Rover's Israeli importer, "HaMizrah," has introduced the extreme Defender OCTA variant to the local market, expanding the Defender lineup that has sold 778 units since 2020. Revealed in July 2024, the OCTA is based on the 110 model and features a powerful 4.4-liter V8 engine developed in collaboration with BMW, delivering 635 horsepower and 76.4 kgm of torque, significantly outperforming the Range Rover's engine by 105 horsepower. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.0 to 4.2 seconds, depending on tires, and includes Brembo brakes with 400 mm discs.

The Defender OCTA boasts enhanced off-road capabilities with a new 6D Dynamic suspension system, hydraulic links, active dampers, and increased ground clearance of up to 32.3 cm in open mode. It also features improved approach, departure, and breakover angles, and a water wading depth of 100 cm. Terrain Response 2 with OCTA and Dynamic modes further optimize its off-road performance.

Despite its rugged exterior with unique bumpers, side vents, and a graphite-finished skid plate, the OCTA is well-equipped with luxury features such as matrix LED headlights with washers, panoramic roof, electrically adjustable heated and ventilated seats with memory, an 11.4-inch multimedia screen, Meridian sound system with 15 speakers, wireless charging, and advanced safety systems including adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, and collision avoidance.

The OCTA comes in three trims: the base model priced at 1,511,000 shekels, the Black edition with all-black styling at 1,622,000 shekels, and the Edition One featuring carbon fiber accents and bronze brake calipers at 1,666,800 shekels. The Edition One also offers BF Goodrich Trail Terrain tires, while off-road enthusiasts can opt for Goodyear DuraTrac RT tires, which limit top speed to 160 km/h. The Defender OCTA is positioned as a direct competitor to the Mercedes-AMG G63, combining extreme off-road prowess with high-performance luxury.

This launch marks a significant upgrade in Land Rover's Defender range in Israel, catering to buyers seeking both rugged capability and premium performance in a luxury SUV.
