Land Rover importer Hamizrach has begun selling the Defender 110 in American specification, and with the weaker dollar the entry price falls to 495,000 shekels. That makes it the first Defender priced below 500,000 shekels in Israel, and 34,000 shekels cheaper than the shorter Defender 90. The move follows a new February price list for Land Rover’s luxury SUV lineup, which included broader discounts as the British brand continues to gain momentum locally and adds American-spec versions of the Velar and Evoque.
The new entry model is the Defender P300, a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine producing 300 hp and 40 kgm of torque at 1,500 rpm. Power goes to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic, with 0 to 100 kph in 7.4 seconds, about one second quicker than the D350 diesel, and fuel consumption of 8.4 km per liter under EPA testing. Despite being the base model, it is better equipped than the previous diesel entry trim, the S D200.
The American-spec P300 comes in S trim with electrically adjustable, heated front seats with memory, a heated electric steering wheel, a 13.1-inch multimedia screen, surround-view cameras, wireless charging, a panoramic roof, Meridian audio, and 19-inch wheels. The 5-seat version costs 495,000 shekels, while the 7-seat version costs 544,000 shekels and adds air suspension, three-zone climate control, and heated second- and third-row seats.
Land Rover is also adding a more powerful gasoline version, the P400, with a 3.0-liter inline-six producing 400 hp. It reaches 100 kph in 6.1 seconds and uses 8.7 km per liter. Sold in X-Dynamic trim, it adds a digital rearview mirror, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, upgraded audio, a black roof, active rear differential lock, a water-wading sensor, and 20-inch wheels. Its price is 629,000 shekels. Towing capacity remains unchanged from the diesel models, at up to 3.5 tons with brakes.
