The Eastern company, Land Rover’s Israeli importer, has started selling the Defender 110 in an American-spec gasoline version, and the entry price falls to NIS 495,000. Because of the weaker dollar, that makes it the first Defender in Israel priced below half a million shekels, and NIS 34,000 cheaper than the shorter Defender 90.
The new P300 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 300 hp and 40 kgm of torque at 1,500 rpm. Power goes to all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission, 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.4 seconds, and fuel consumption is listed at 8.4 km per liter under EPA testing. Land Rover says this is about 2.7 km per liter worse than the diesel versions under WLTP testing.
The imported Defender will come in S trim, with electrically adjustable front seats with heating and memory, a heated and power-adjustable steering wheel, a 13.1-inch multimedia screen, surround-view cameras, wireless charging, a panoramic roof, Meridian audio and 19-inch wheels. The seven-seat version costs NIS 544,000 and adds air suspension, three-zone climate control, and heated second- and third-row seats.
A second gasoline version, the P400, also joins the lineup. It has a 3.0-liter inline six with 400 hp, accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, consumes 8.7 km per liter, and is sold in X-Dynamic trim for NIS 629,000 with added digital rear-view mirror, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, upgraded audio, a black roof, active rear differential lock, water-fording sensor, and 20-inch wheels. Towing capacity remains unchanged at up to 3.5 tons with brakes.
