Mercedes Launches New Electric GLC in Israel Starting at 440,000 Shekels

Mercedes-Benz has introduced its new electric GLC crossover in Israel, aiming to compete with models like the Audi Q6 and BMW iX3. Imported by Kalmobil, the GLC offers five seats and measures 4.84 meters long, 1.93 meters wide, and 1.644 meters high, with a 2.96-meter wheelbase. It features a 570-liter rear trunk and a 100-liter front trunk, weighing approximately 2,400 kilograms. The GLC replaces the discontinued EQC, which previously started at 500,000 shekels. The design is more aggressive, highlighted by a prominent illuminated grille reminiscent of classic Mercedes fronts.

The GLC comes in three powertrain versions: the GLC250 rear-wheel drive with 354 horsepower, 50.5 kgm torque, 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, a top speed of 210 km/h, and a 650 km range; the GLC300 with all-wheel drive, 421 horsepower, 80 kgm torque, 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, and a 616 km range; and the GLC400, a high-performance all-wheel drive model with 489 horsepower, 80 kgm torque, 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, and a 667 km range. Battery capacities range from 85 to 94 kWh with fast charging up to 330 kW. Unlike the EQC, the GLC was designed from the ground up as an electric vehicle, improving driving dynamics, comfort, and real-world range.

Trim levels start at 439,000 shekels for the GLC250 Icon, featuring 19-inch wheels, panoramic glass roof, LED headlights, and a 14-inch multimedia screen. The GLC300 Elite begins at 470,000 shekels with 20-inch wheels, illuminated grille and emblem, aluminum side steps, and ambient lighting. The top GLC400 Signature costs from 560,000 shekels and includes AMG Line styling, a 15-speaker Burmester sound system, 21-inch wheels, advanced back massage seats, and rear-wheel steering.

In response, BMW's Israeli importer, Delek Motors, announced a lower-priced version of the iX3 electric SUV, the iX3 40, with rear-wheel drive, an 82 kWh battery, 634 km range, and 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds. Priced from 435,000 shekels, it is offered in two trims: the base Elegant with a 17.9-inch screen and a 43.3-inch widescreen instrument panel, and the M Sport with sportier design and a 365-watt Harman Kardon sound system at 480,000 shekels. This move follows BMW’s launch of the iX3 50 variant earlier.

The new Mercedes GLC electric SUV thus enters a competitive luxury electric market in Israel, offering a range of options and advanced features at prices starting below 440,000 shekels, while BMW counters with a more affordable iX3 variant shortly after Mercedes’ announcement.
