Mercedes Launches New Electric GLC Model as BMW Responds with Updated iX3
Mercedes-Benz has introduced the new generation of its electric GLC SUV in Israel, offering three electric powertrain options and five trim levels. The base GLC 250 model features rear-wheel drive with 354 horsepower, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. It is equipped with an 85 kWh battery providing a declared range of 650 kilometers. Fast charging at 320 kW takes 22 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%, while home charging with a 22 kW onboard charger requires nine hours for a full charge.
The mid-level GLC 300 4Matic offers all-wheel drive, 421 horsepower, and a quicker 0-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds. It uses the same battery and charging times but has a shorter range of 616 kilometers. The top-tier GLC 400 4Matic delivers 489 horsepower, accelerating to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, and features a larger 94 kWh battery with a range of 663 kilometers. Home charging takes 10.5 hours, and fast charging is 22 minutes at 330 kW.
In comparison, BMW's updated iX3 entry model produces 320 horsepower, slightly less than the Mercedes base model, but matches its 0-100 km/h acceleration time. The iX3 has a slightly smaller battery by 2.4 kWh and a range 16 kilometers shorter than the Mercedes GLC 250, indicating a close competition between the two.
Mercedes offers five trim levels for the GLC electric, ranging from Icon to Signature AMG Line, with prices starting at 440,000 shekels for the base GLC 250 Icon and reaching up to 640,000 shekels for the top GLC 400 Signature AMG Line. The vehicles come with a three-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty, an eight-year or 160,000-kilometer battery warranty, and maintenance intervals every two years or 30,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
