Bulgarian National Team Midfielder Ilian Stefanov Set to Join Maccabi Herzliya in Liga Leumit

Maccabi Herzliya is set to strengthen its squad with a surprising and impressive signing, acquiring Bulgarian national team midfielder Ilian Stefanov. Stefanov, who played last season for Slavia Sofia and is under contract until 2028, is joining the Liga Leumit club after Herzliya narrowly missed promotion to the Israeli Premier League last season. The midfielder has shown good form, contributing assists this year and scoring three goals with one assist the previous season. According to Transfermarkt, Stefanov's market value is approximately 700,000 euros, which is significant compared to the entire Herzliya squad's combined market value of 1.62 million euros. Stefanov also has a history with Levski Sofia but was not included in their squad for matches against Hapoel Be'er Sheva last year. He has made eight appearances for the Bulgarian national team between 2022 and 2023. Reports from Bulgaria indicate that Maccabi Herzliya will not pay a transfer fee for the player.
