Bulgarian National Team Midfielder Ilian Stefanov Set to Join Maccabi Herzliya in Liga Leumit

Maccabi Herzliya is set to strengthen its squad with a surprising and impressive signing as Bulgarian national team midfielder Ilian Stefanov is expected to join the club. Stefanov played last season for Slavia Sofia and is currently under contract until 2028. He has been in good form, contributing assists this season and scoring three goals with one assist in the previous season. According to Transfermarkt, his market value is approximately 700,000 euros, while the total market value of all Maccabi Herzliya players stands at 1.62 million euros.

Stefanov has a background with Levski Sofia but was not included in the squad for matches against Hapoel Be'er Sheva last year. He has made eight appearances for the Bulgarian national team, all between 2022 and 2023. Reports from Bulgaria indicate that Maccabi Herzliya will not pay a transfer fee for the player. This acquisition follows Herzliya's near-promotion to the Israeli Premier League last season, signaling their intent to continue strengthening their roster in Liga Leumit, Israel's second division.
