Three Charged in Premeditated Killing of Muhammad Mahamid Near Umm al-Fahm Bakery

The Haifa District Attorney's Office has filed murder charges against Karam Ghabarin, 42, from Ma'ale Iron, Said Al-Sayed, 23, from the Negev, and a minor from Umm al-Fahm for the killing of Muhammad Mahamid. According to the indictment, the three planned the murder in advance, motivated by Ghabarin's desire to avenge his wife's death, for which the victim's brother was on trial.

The accused prepared by stealing two vehicles and equipping themselves with a Kalashnikov rifle and other gear. They altered license plates from two trucks and attached them to the car used in the attack. The ambush took place near a bakery in Umm al-Fahm, where Mahamid routinely stopped on his way to work. Mahamid was shot at least nine times in the back and died at the scene. Shots were also fired at the vehicle he arrived in, injuring another occupant in the leg.

After the shooting, the suspects fled, setting fire to the car used in the attack to destroy evidence, including weapons and phones. They also attempted to conceal the getaway car's identity by sending it to a garage in Barta'a for repainting. The indictment accuses them of premeditated murder under aggravating circumstances, weapons offenses, intentional grievous harm, arson, evidence destruction, obstruction of justice, and additional charges.
