Teen Driver Crashes During South District Police Chase After Trying to Evade Check
During a Sunday enforcement operation in Israel’s Southern District, officers from the Yoav Unit spotted a vehicle whose driver tried to flee when he noticed police, apparently to avoid inspection. A police motorcyclist gave chase as the suspect drove at high speed and in a way that endangered other road users.
The pursuit ended shortly afterward when the driver lost control and the car overturned on the roadside. Police then discovered that the driver was a 16-year-old minor with no driving licence.
The suspect was arrested and taken to Sde Boker police station for further questioning. Officers also found that the vehicle’s registration was not valid. Police said the arrest is part of their ongoing effort against serious traffic offences, illegal driving, and failure to obey police instructions, which they said threaten public safety and road users.
