Former Inmate Arrested for Murder of Foreign Worker in Jerusalem Six Days After Release

A 31-year-old man from Eilat was arrested on suspicion of murdering a foreign worker in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem, just six days after his release from a lengthy prison sentence for previous violent offenses. The victim, a foreign worker who cared for an elderly couple, was found dead in the apartment with severe signs of violence on July 23, 2026.

Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment statement against the suspect on August 10, 2026. The police quickly identified the case as a criminal incident and assigned the investigation to the Jerusalem District Unit (YAMAR). Commander of the Jerusalem District, Chief Superintendent Avshalom Peled, personally oversaw the crime scene and ordered rapid investigative actions.

The investigation led to the suspect's swift arrest shortly after the crime. Police forensic experts confirmed the violent nature of the death, and the YAMAR team gathered substantial evidence against the suspect. Deputy Superintendent Yitzhak Dahan, head of the investigative team, described the case as a "serious act of violence against a foreign worker." Authorities emphasized their prompt and thorough efforts to uncover the truth and bring the suspect to justice.
