Former Inmate Arrested for Killing Foreign Worker in Jerusalem Six Days After Release

A 31-year-old man from Eilat was arrested on suspicion of murdering a foreign worker in the Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem, just six days after his release from a lengthy prison sentence for previous violent offenses. The victim, a foreign worker who cared for an elderly couple, was found dead in the apartment with severe signs of violence on July 23, 2026.

Jerusalem District Police quickly identified the incident as a criminal case and assigned the investigation to the Jerusalem District Unit for Serious Crimes (YAMAR). Following a rapid investigation, police arrested the suspect shortly after the crime scene was secured. The Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office filed an indictment declaration against the suspect at the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court on August 10, 2026.

Police commander Superintendent Yitzhak Dahan described the case as a serious act of violence against a foreign worker and emphasized the swift and thorough investigative efforts to gather evidence and apprehend the suspect. Jerusalem District Commander Commissioner Avshalom Peled personally oversaw the crime scene and coordinated the investigative response.
