Three Greek Clubs Eye Maccabi Tel Aviv's Helio Vieira Amid Transfer Talks

Following Maccabi Tel Aviv's 3-0 loss to CSKA Sofia in the Europa League qualifiers, the club faces potential further setbacks as interest grows in winger Helio Vieira. The Cape Verde international has attracted attention from three Greek teams: Aris Thessaloniki, PAOK Thessaloniki, and AEK Athens, all of whom have inquired about his transfer fee. Currently, Maccabi Tel Aviv is demanding around 4.5 million euros, a figure higher than what the interested clubs are willing to pay. Vieira was acquired last year for 1.1 million euros for 80% of his rights.

Other clubs previously linked to Vieira include Red Star Belgrade, Ferencváros, Qarabağ, and Samsunspor, but the Greek interest now appears more serious. Negotiations between these Greek teams and Maccabi Tel Aviv may begin soon. Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv has expressed disappointment over the lack of significant reinforcements this summer, having signed only two players so far: Dan Glazer from Kairat and Ester Sokler from Radnički, while exercising the option to retain Christian Blitz. The only foreign player to leave was Heitor, who was loaned to Újpest.

The club aims to strengthen its squad to advance further in European competition, likely targeting the Conference League playoffs, and is seeking at least one additional winger. The current foreign roster includes Mohamed Ali Kamara, Tyrese Asante, Issouf Sisoko, Kevin Andrade (whose status is uncertain), Vieira, and the injured Ion Nicolescu.
