Three Greek Clubs Show Interest in Maccabi Tel Aviv's Helio Vieira Amid Transfer Talks

Following Maccabi Tel Aviv's 3-0 loss to CSKA Sofia in the Europa League qualifiers, the club faces potential further setbacks as key winger Helio Vieira attracts transfer interest abroad. Three Greek teams, Aris Thessaloniki, PAOK Thessaloniki, and AEK Athens, have expressed interest and inquired about Vieira's transfer fee. Maccabi Tel Aviv currently demands around 4.5 million euros, a figure higher than what the clubs are willing to offer. Vieira, a Cape Verde national team player, was signed last year for 1.1 million euros for 80% of his rights.

Other clubs previously linked to Vieira include Red Star Belgrade, Ferencváros, Qarabağ, and Samsunspor, but the Greek interest appears more serious at this stage. Meanwhile, Maccabi Tel Aviv has only signed two players this summer, Dan Glazer from Kairat and Ester Sokler from Radnički, and exercised the option to retain Christian Blitz. The club has yet to add a new foreign player, despite aiming to strengthen the squad for a likely Conference League playoff round.

The current foreign roster includes Mohamed Ali Camara, Tyrese Asante, Isuf Sisoko, Kevin Andrade (whose status is uncertain), Vieira, and the injured Ion Nicolescu. The only foreign player to leave so far is Heitor, who was loaned to Újpest. Maccabi Tel Aviv's management is reportedly disappointed with the lack of significant reinforcements ahead of the new season.
