Jerusalem District Court Rejects Central Command Chief's Appeal Over Administrative Detention Order

The Jerusalem District Court, presided over by Judge Avraham Rubin, has dismissed the appeal filed by Central Command Chief Aviv Blot against Tal Yinon Dradik. The court upheld the ruling of the military appeals court in the West Bank, which declared Blot's administrative detention order against Dradik invalid. Dradik has been held at the Russian Compound detention center and has been on a hunger strike for 34 days in protest of the order issued by Blot. Following the court's decision, attorney Moshe Polsky from the Honenu organization, representing Dradik, initiated efforts for his immediate release.

The appeal was submitted despite Defense Minister Israel Katz's directive to discontinue the order against Dradik. Blot's decision to pursue the appeal sparked significant public controversy. Polsky stated, "We welcome the district court's decision to reject Chief Blot's appeal. The chief effectively detained Dradik for over a month with an order that was clearly unlawful and unenforceable. All legal maneuvers by Blot or his representatives failed, as two judicial bodies ruled the order invalid. We expect Central Command and the Shin Bet to conduct a thorough review of their handling of this difficult situation."
