IDF Central Command Allows Tal Yinon Dardik to Leave House Arrest but Bars Him from West Bank

Tal Yinon Dardik, a resident of the West Bank outpost Kfar Tapuach near Atarot, was released from house arrest under updated conditions by IDF Central Command Chief Major General Avi Blot. This decision, made on Monday following a Jerusalem District Court ruling, contradicts Defense Minister Israel Katz's request to maintain stricter restrictions. Instead of limiting Dardik to a specific location, he is now banned from entering the entire Judea and Samaria area. He must report twice daily to the police station in Modi'in Illit, where he currently resides with his mother-in-law.

The court upheld the security establishment's assessment of Dardik's significant danger, confirming the original administrative restriction order was justified, proportionate, and reasonable. However, it annulled the specific location restriction, allowing time to revise the order with new conditions. Dardik agreed to the banishment and was informed that wearing electronic monitoring could lead to eased restrictions.

Dardik was arrested in March on suspicion of serious sexual assault in Humsah and was initially placed under house arrest. After refusing to comply with the restriction order, he began a hunger strike, which the prison service later denied. Following an appeals committee decision, Defense Minister Katz instructed General Blot not to issue a new order but to pursue alternative measures against Dardik, whom security agencies consider a threat to Palestinians. General Blot appealed to the Jerusalem District Court, which rejected the appeal, affirming the military commander's authority to impose new restrictions with monitoring conditions.

The restriction order's expiration date remains unchanged, and the case continues to be monitored by security and judicial authorities.
