Holon Man Arrested for Threatening Incidents Involving Knives and Backpacks at Banks and Grocery Store

A 54-year-old resident of Holon was arrested on August 7, 2026, on suspicion of involvement in three threatening incidents across the Gush Dan area. The events took place on the morning of Friday, August 7, in Bat Yam, Holon, and Tel Aviv, where backpacks and knives were placed at the entrances of two bank branches and a Rami Levy supermarket. The suspect allegedly left backpacks attached to doors at a Mizrahi Bank branch on Yohanan HaSandlar Street in Bat Yam and at the Rami Levy store on HaPeled Street in Holon, where red X marks were also painted on windows. The third incident occurred at another Mizrahi Bank branch on Allenby Street in Tel Aviv, where three red-painted knives were stuck into the door, mezuzahs were painted red, and red X marks were found on the door. Police from the Tel Aviv district responded to emergency calls and collected evidence at the scenes. The investigation is being led by the Holon police station. After questioning, the suspect was detained and is expected to have his detention extended by court order. Authorities are currently examining the motive behind the incidents and any connections between the three locations.
