Wizz Air Flight From Rome to Tel Aviv Delayed After Passenger Refuses Takeoff Over Sabbath Concerns

A Wizz Air flight from Rome to Tel Aviv was delayed by several hours following an unusual incident on the ground just minutes before takeoff. After boarding was completed, one passenger requested to leave the aircraft without providing any explanation, causing alarm among the crew and passengers. Due to security concerns, Italian police were called, the passenger was removed and questioned, and all approximately 300 passengers were evacuated back to the terminal for comprehensive security checks.

The pilot decided not to take any risks, leading to the cancellation of the flight and thorough inspections of the plane and passengers' luggage. It was later revealed that the passenger was a Jewish man who wished to disembark because he anticipated a delay that would cause him to violate the Sabbath. Wizz Air confirmed the delay was due to additional security checks and emphasized that passenger and crew safety is their top priority.

The incident ended without injuries but caused significant disruption, forcing hundreds of passengers to wait in the terminal until alternative flights to Israel could be arranged.
