Father of Slain Shani Luk Confronts Transport Minister Miri Regev Over October 7 Tragedy
During a campaign visit to Jerusalem's Mahane Yehuda Market on August 7, Nissim Luk confronted Transport Minister Miri Regev, accusing her and the Likud party of responsibility for the October 7 attacks that led to the death of his daughter, Shani Luk. Shani was killed and abducted to Gaza during the violent events in October 2023. In a video circulated on social media, Luk shouted at Regev, "You caused October 7. Shame on you, Likud. My daughter Shani Luk was murdered because of you. Shame on you. 3,000 were killed because of you, and you keep smiling."
Minister Regev continued taking photos with supporters and then left the market in her campaign vehicle, while Luk remained and engaged with some of her supporters. In an interview with N12, Luk explained his actions, stating that after October 7 he became politically right-wing and now directs his criticism at the government, the Shin Bet, and the Hamas terrorists responsible for the tragedy. "I lost my daughter and I shouted out of my pain," he said. The incident highlights ongoing tensions and public anger related to the government's handling of the October 7 attacks and their aftermath.
