Homeless man charged with murdering Bnei Brak scholar in front of his 13-year-old son
The State Attorney’s Office has filed an indictment with the Tel Aviv District Court against homeless man Guy Achtlinger, 45, for the murder of yeshiva student Yeshai Por, 52, in Bnei Brak last month. Prosecutors asked that Achtlinger remain jailed until the end of the proceedings.
According to the indictment, Achtlinger and Por had known each other from Torah study at a local kollel in the city. About a week before the killing, Achtlinger allegedly threatened Por, saying he would “cut off his head,” and for reasons that remain unclear decided to kill him.
A few days later, he allegedly stabbed Por to death in front of Por’s 13-year-old son. The indictment charges Achtlinger with murder under aggravated circumstances, abuse of a minor, and obstruction of justice.
