The investigation into the murder of Yishai Por, of blessed memory, at a yeshiva compound in Bnei Brak has been completed, and a prosecutor's statement has been filed against the suspect. According to suspicion, the 52-year-old victim was stabbed to death following a dispute on a religious background. The suspect fled to Beit Shemesh, was arrested, and a prosecutor's statement was filed against him.
The investigation into the shocking murder that took place last month at the Chazon Ish Kollel in Bnei Brak was concluded today (Thursday). The victim, Yishai Por, of blessed memory, 52, a resident of the city, was seriously stabbed and evacuated to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As part of an extensive manhunt, police forces located the suspect, a 45-year-old homeless man, in the city of Beit Shemesh, where he fled after the attack. He was arrested for questioning, incarcerated, and his remand was extended from time to time in court.
The investigation showed that the suspect arrived at the kollel compound, met the victim, and suddenly attacked him without warning, in front of his 13-year-old son. According to suspicion, he stabbed the victim several times and caused his critical injuries, then fled the scene.
It also emerged from the investigation that the suspect and the deceased used to pray in the same compound, and that there had previously been a dispute between them over religious interpretation. Testimonies taken during the investigation indicated that the suspect had also threatened in the past to kill the deceased, but no complaints on the matter were received by police.
Through investigative actions, evidence collection, and examination of security cameras, investigators were able to trace the suspect and his escape route. According to the investigation findings, he fled on foot through the streets of Bnei Brak while carrying, according to suspicion, the knife used in the murder and a bloodstained glove. He later threw the items into an abandoned structure in the city.
At the end of the investigation, a prosecutor's statement was filed against the suspect, and his remand was extended by five days. In the coming days, the State Attorney's Office is expected to file an indictment against him and request that he be held until the end of the legal proceedings.
