State prosecutors have filed a severe indictment against Guy Achtlinger, 45, of street homelessness, for the aggravated murder of 53-year-old yeshiva student Rabbi Yishai Por in Bnei Brak. The indictment was submitted Monday morning to the Tel Aviv District Court by the state prosecution. The killing took place inside a study hall, in front of the victim’s 13-year-old son, who was sitting beside his father at the time.

According to the indictment, filed by attorney Meredit Shivan Perkel, Achtlinger and Por knew each other from shared Torah study at the Bnei Brak kollel. About a week before the attack, Achtlinger allegedly threatened Por and told him he would “cut off his head.” Prosecutors say that several days later he acted on that threat after noticing the rabbi was at the kollel with his minor son.

The indictment says Achtlinger arrived wearing a glove and carrying a knife, crept up behind Por, and stabbed him several times in the neck and once in the back, intending to kill him in front of the shocked boy. Security footage reportedly documented the attack. After the stabbing, he fled the building, hid the knife, glove, and jacket in an abandoned structure to destroy evidence and obstruct the investigation, then traveled to Beit Shemesh, where police found and arrested him hours later.

Por, who suffered massive bleeding and was critically wounded, was evacuated unconscious to Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer. Doctors fought to save him, but he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. In addition to aggravated murder and obstruction of justice, prosecutors are charging Achtlinger with child abuse for forcing the 13-year-old to witness his father’s final moments, and they have asked the court to keep him in custody until the end of proceedings.
