West Nile Virus Claims One Life in Israel as 10 Cases Confirmed This Season
The Israeli Ministry of Health has reported the death of a man in his 70s from West Nile virus. Since the start of the season, 10 cases have been diagnosed, with three patients currently hospitalized in stable condition. Concurrently, infected mosquitoes carrying the virus have been captured in several locations including Tel Aviv-Yafo, Tayibe, Tira, Kalansawa, and the Lev HaSharon Regional Council.
In response, the Ministry of Environmental Protection has instructed local authorities to intensify prevention and mosquito control efforts. The public is urged to eliminate standing water sources, use mosquito repellents, install window screens, and wear long, light-colored clothing to reduce the risk of infection.
