Man in His 70s Dies From West Nile Virus in First Fatality of Season
A man approximately 70 years old has died from West Nile virus, marking the first fatality of the current season. Since the beginning of the year, six cases of the virus have been confirmed. West Nile virus is transmitted to humans through mosquito bites, specifically from mosquitoes that feed on infected birds. The illness primarily occurs in late summer and early autumn. According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, the incubation period ranges from two to fourteen days after the bite, with symptoms typically lasting three to six days.
