Security Guard Arrested for Assaulting Fan with Metal Rod at Israeli Football Match

During a Toto Cup football match between Hapoel Petah Tikva and Maccabi Netanya at HaMoshava Stadium on Wednesday, a violent altercation broke out between Hapoel Petah Tikva fans and civilian security guards during halftime. The clash escalated to the point where one security guard allegedly struck fans with a metal rod before fleeing the scene. Police from the Central District promptly intervened after attempts by the event's security management to control the situation failed. One person was lightly injured and received medical treatment.

Following a swift investigation, one security guard was initially detained and released, while police continued searching for the main suspect. The suspect, a man in his 20s from Abu Ghosh, was located and arrested on Thursday morning. He was brought before the court, which extended his detention until Sunday, August 9. The police commander present at the stadium took over event management from the sports event director, deployed additional forces, and restored order.

The incident has drawn public attention, including social media condemnation of the guard's violent behavior. Authorities continue to investigate the case as part of enforcing the law against violence in sports events.
