Maccabi Ramat Gan Signs L.J. Figueroa as Fourth Foreign Player for Upcoming Season

Maccabi Ramat Gan officially announced the signing of L.J. Figueroa, a 28-year-old Dominican guard/forward standing 1.98 meters tall, as their fourth foreign player ahead of the new basketball season. The team will begin official training on August 25. Figueroa returns to Israel for his second stint, having previously played for Hapoel Be'er Sheva late last season. During his 10 games with Be'er Sheva, he averaged 18.7 points, 2.4 assists, and 27.6 minutes per game, with a standout performance in May scoring 27 points against Maccabi Ramat Gan.

Figueroa brings experience from the NBA G League, where he played for the Santa Cruz Warriors and Mexico City Capitanes. He joins fellow new foreign signings guard Ahmad Khaiber from the G League, power forward Justin Lewis also from the G League, and forward/center Bryce Washington, who played last season in South Korea. Returning Israeli players Gil Bnei and Yonatan Atias will continue with the team, alongside three new Israeli additions: Joaquin Shochman, Lior Carrera, and Roy Fritsky.

Coach Elad Hassin explained the rationale behind Figueroa's signing, emphasizing the search for a scorer with diverse offensive skills and a compatible character to the existing squad. Hassin highlighted the importance of building a team identity focused on mental toughness, defensive aggression, and a fast-paced style of play. He described the roster as composed of intelligent, unselfish players who support each other and aim to entertain fans with dynamic, high-tempo basketball.
