Maccabi Haifa Plans to Sign Foreign Defender and Striker Ahead of New Season
Maccabi Haifa has returned from their training camp in Hungary and will resume practice on Sunday, with a friendly match scheduled against Ironi Kiryat Yam from the National League on Tuesday. The club's primary focus is on acquiring at least one foreign central defender, as negotiations to sign Radinio Bulker have stalled. If Pedro does not prove reliable, Haifa plans to bring in another foreign defender to replace him.
In addition to defense, the team is seeking to strengthen their striker position. Tribente Stuart is not in the club's plans, and his agent is actively looking for a new team for him, with Maccabi Haifa assisting in facilitating a transfer to bring in a new forward. Once these two key foreign player positions are filled, the club will consider further reinforcements.
Currently, the foreign players with secured spots on the squad are Yala Bataiy, Cedric Don, Bruninho, and Manuel Benson. The club intends to add a foreign striker, a foreign defender, and either Pedro or an additional foreign defender. This strategy leaves one foreign player slot open, unless a youth foreign player is signed.
Separately, midfielder Goni Naor, who has one year left on his contract, is not part of the club's plans and may be included in a trade. Naor did not join the team for the training camp but is expected to return to practice upon the team's arrival back in Israel.
