Political Analyst Rejects New Party as Part of Israeli Right-Wing Bloc

The announcement of a new political party formed by former minister Gilad Erdan and ex-Knesset member Yuli Edelstein has sparked controversy within Israel's right-wing circles. Channel 14 commentator Yaakov Bardugo sharply criticized the move, asserting that neither politician belongs to the right-wing camp. Bardugo described their motivations as personal and political, accusing them of rallying around opposition to Benjamin Netanyahu and hostility toward ultra-Orthodox Jews. He labeled both as disappointed figures unlikely to have succeeded in Likud primaries.

Bardugo also condemned the manner in which the party was launched, noting that announcing it live on Channel 12 was inappropriate for right-wing politics. While calling Edelstein a "nice person," he suggested political life is not suited for him. Bardugo concluded by predicting the new party will fail to pass the electoral threshold and that its votes will primarily come at the expense of left-wing parties.
