IDF Chief Vows No Repeat of October 7 Hamas Attack, Pledges Continued Operations in Gaza

IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir conducted a visit to the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, emphasizing that the Israel Defense Forces will persist in targeting Hamas and pursuing all individuals involved in planning and executing the October 7 massacre. The tour included senior commanders such as Southern Command Chief Major General Yaniv Asor, 99th Division Commander Brigadier General Elad Tsuri, and Gaza Division Commander Brigadier General Liron Batito.

During the visit, battalion commanders briefed Zamir on the operational situation, followed by a discussion with division and brigade leaders. Zamir praised the soldiers and commanders for their efforts, stating, "We are implementing the security concept we defined, not only here but along all of Israel's borders. The IDF is at the forefront, ahead of the communities and residents, to protect them."

Regarding the fighting in Gaza, Zamir said the IDF has significantly weakened Hamas and altered the security reality. He reaffirmed the army's commitment to proactive operations aimed at eliminating threats and protecting Israeli communities and residents. Zamir stressed that the IDF will not allow a recurrence of the threat experienced on October 7, declaring, "We will not permit the emergence of threats on our borders as we saw then."

He also noted the multi-front nature of the conflict, referencing his recent visit to forces in southern Lebanon and highlighting the shared spirit of initiative, aggression, and mission commitment. Zamir underscored the ongoing pursuit of the Negev terrorists and all those involved in the massacre, stating that images of the victims remain vivid and that the IDF will relentlessly hold all responsible parties accountable.

Concluding his remarks, Zamir committed to continuing efforts to defend the communities surrounding Gaza, ensuring the IDF remains at the forefront to safeguard residents and maintain their security.
