WhatsApp Adds @all Tagging, Enhanced Polls, and AI Content Labels in Group Chats
WhatsApp has introduced several new features to improve group chat interactions, including the ability to tag all members at once, upgraded polls, and the option to create new groups from existing ones. The @all tagging feature sends a notification to every group member, designed for urgent messages like event changes or closures. In response to concerns about AI-generated misinformation spreading in chats, WhatsApp is rolling out a new label for AI-created media content in channels. Channel admins can tag posts containing AI-generated files with a visible "AI content" label, helping followers identify such media. This feature currently applies only to channels, not private or group chats, and aims to increase transparency amid growing use of generative AI. The label applies regardless of the AI tool used and may be mandatory in regions with legal disclosure requirements.
