Former Atlanta Hawks Guard Kayton Wallace Leads Maccabi Tel Aviv Replacement Search

Kayton Wallace, a 27-year-old former guard for the Atlanta Hawks, is the leading candidate to replace Loni Walker at Maccabi Tel Aviv for the upcoming season. According to reports from Basket News, Wallace is currently in talks with Maccabi Tel Aviv, who are considered favorites to sign him as he plans to continue his career in Europe. Wallace, who can play both point guard and shooting guard positions, is known for his strong outside shooting, hitting 37.3% from beyond the arc during the 2025/26 NBA season.

Wallace, the younger brother of Oklahoma City player Kayson Wallace, spent the last two seasons with the Hawks. In the 2025/26 season, he averaged 3.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 10 minutes per game across 53 appearances. His best performance came in a win against the Los Angeles Lakers, where he scored 14 points and dished out seven assists. Standing 1.90 meters tall, Wallace is an athletic point guard with strong defensive skills and good ball-handling abilities, particularly with his left hand.

Wallace began his basketball career at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) but went undrafted in 2021. He started professionally in the NBA G League before earning a spot with the Hawks. His previous season averages included 5.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 16.2 minutes per game over 31 games.

Currently, Maccabi Tel Aviv's roster includes point guards Yam Madar, Iffe Lundberg, and Jimmy Clark; shooting guards John DiBartolomeo and Amit Abo; small forwards Bonzi Colson, Oshae Brissett, and Will Rayman; power forwards Jalen Hood-Schifino, T.J. Leaf, and Gur Lavi; and centers Daniel Theis, Roman Sorkin, and Armando Bacot, who recently agreed to terms. The team is awaiting clarity on Loni Walker's status before finalizing the new signing.
