Maccabi Tel Aviv's New Guard Kiton Wallace Offers Solid Play Over Flashy Scoring

Maccabi Tel Aviv's new guard, Kiton Wallace, is being compared to former player Looney Walker, but analysts suggest Wallace's more solid, team-oriented play might be a better fit for the current team.

While Walker was known for his scoring prowess, Wallace is described as a player who can execute the pick-and-roll effectively and make more passes. He is also noted for being a significantly better defender than Walker. "He's not Looney Walker, he's much more solid, he's also a much better defender," said Walla Sport editor Hoffman. "He has advantages over Looney Walker, we need to say that too, he's a much better team player."

Wallace scored 20 points in his debut game against Hapoel Herzliya, showcasing his scoring ability, though key players like Yam Madar and J.J. Clark were absent. Hoffman added that while Wallace doesn't reach Walker's level in terms of individual scoring, his overall game might be more beneficial for Maccabi Tel Aviv this season.

Analysts also discussed potential guard combinations once J.J. Clark returns from injury. "Once J.J. returns, we will really understand the combinations Odad is planning in his guard lineup," said Zuckerman. "I don't believe Kiton will be exclusive at the two-guard position, there will be all sorts of combinations between, as you said: Lundberg to Madar, Madar to J.J., J.J. and [Wallace]."
