Four More Israeli Soldiers Sentenced and Removed from Combat for Battalion Mutiny

Four additional soldiers involved in a mutiny at the Givati Brigade's Sabra Battalion were sentenced to military prison and removed from combat duty. Three of these soldiers, identified as leaders of the mutiny, received 30-day prison sentences and immediate dismissal from combat roles. A fourth soldier, who was already on leave before sentencing, was given a 20-day prison term and also dismissed from combat service. The mutiny occurred last Thursday at the Shde-Teyman base when soldiers refused orders to destroy a memorial corner honoring fallen comrades, which included flags and mementos. Instead, they laid down their weapons in protest after being ordered by their battalion commander to remove the memorial and other signs linked to "abnormal events." Earlier, on Friday, the IDF announced that 14 soldiers who led the mutiny had been sentenced similarly to 30 days in prison and removal from combat duty. The soldiers had left their base without authorization following the order to dismantle the memorial. The IDF stated the incident is under investigation and emphasized it contradicts the values and discipline expected of its soldiers. Givati Brigade Commander Colonel Natanel Shamkha condemned the event as serious and unacceptable, stressing that the IDF will address it with full responsibility and maintain strict standards of discipline and command authority.
