IDF Sends 18 Soldiers to Prison After Shakedown at Shde Teyman Base, Battalion Commander Cleared

Following a mutiny at the Shde Teyman military base, 18 soldiers were sentenced to military prison terms ranging from 20 to 30 days. Seventeen of the mutiny leaders received 30-day sentences, while one soldier was sentenced to 20 days. All 18 soldiers will be discharged from combat roles. Despite videos showing the battalion commander smashing platoon signs with a hammer, the brigade commander chose to support him and imposed no punishment on the commander. Fourteen of the soldiers were sentenced on Friday, with the remaining four sentenced on the morning of August 4, 2026. The incident has drawn attention to discipline issues within combat units, but the leadership has focused disciplinary actions solely on the soldiers involved in the rebellion.
