Israel's Health Ministry Allows Partial Reopening of Medica Rafael Hospital Operating Rooms

About two weeks after ordering the closure of operating rooms at the private Medica Rafael Hospital in Tel Aviv's Atidim Park due to regulatory deficiencies, Israel's Ministry of Health announced a partial lifting of the closure order. The hospital has been permitted to gradually resume surgical operations, initially limited to four operating rooms dedicated to major surgeries, starting Sunday. This decision followed the hospital's correction of the identified issues and commitments from its management and board to fully comply with licensing conditions and cease any unauthorized activities.

The Ministry emphasized that ongoing supervision and inspections will continue to ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. The initial closure was imposed on July 17 after inspections revealed significant shortcomings. The Ministry's statement highlighted that the reopening does not conclude the regulatory oversight process, which will persist alongside evaluations of other medical institutions.

Medica Rafael Hospital's management declared that all deficiencies have been addressed and pledged to maintain compliance with the Ministry's professional requirements as a condition for resuming operations. The phased reopening reflects a cautious approach to restoring full surgical services while safeguarding patient safety and regulatory compliance.
