Ben Gurion Airport Prepares for Peak August Travel with 2.6 Million Passengers Expected

Ben Gurion Airport is gearing up for one of its busiest months of the year as August approaches, with an estimated 2.6 million passengers expected to pass through the terminal. Forty-seven airlines will operate flights to popular destinations including Greece, Cyprus, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Germany. On weekdays, excluding weekends, daily passenger traffic is projected to range between 90,000 and 95,000, with peak days potentially reaching around 100,000 travelers. The busiest days anticipated are August 6, 13, 17, 20, and 27.

To manage the expected crowds, the Israel Airports Authority advises passengers to arrive three hours before their flight, complete online check-in when possible, and verify their terminal and updated departure times in advance. The authority also recommends using self-service kiosks for baggage tagging and drop-off. Passengers traveling with only carry-on luggage who have checked in online can use the W terminal area for expedited processing.

Additionally, travelers are encouraged to use public transportation to reach the airport. Reservists are reminded to check their bags for any ammunition or military equipment to avoid delays during security screening. The authority acknowledges that high summer traffic may cause occasional congestion and longer wait times but assures that all staff are working diligently to minimize disruptions, maintain safety, and ensure smooth airport operations throughout the busy period.
