Ben Gurion Airport Prepares for Peak Passenger Crowds in August 2026

Ben Gurion Airport is expecting significant passenger congestion in August 2026, with approximately 2.6 million travelers forecasted to pass through the airport during the month. A total of 47 airlines, including Israeli carriers, will operate flights to a wide range of global destinations. The most popular destinations this August include Greece, Cyprus, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Germany.

On weekdays throughout August, excluding weekends, daily passenger traffic is expected to range between 90,000 and 95,000 for both arrivals and departures. Certain dates, August 6, 13, 17, 20, and 27, are projected to see even higher volumes, with around 100,000 passengers each day.

The Israel Airports Authority advises travelers to arrive three hours before their flight departure, complete online check-in when possible, and verify their terminal and updated departure times in advance. Passengers are encouraged to use self-service kiosks for baggage tagging and drop-off. Those who have checked in online and are traveling with hand luggage only can use the expedited W terminal area for faster processing. Public transportation to the airport is recommended to ease access.

Additionally, reservists are reminded to check their bags for any military equipment or ammunition before arriving to avoid delays during security screening.
