Ben Gurion Airport Prepares for Peak Passenger Crowds in August 2026

Ben Gurion Airport is expecting significant passenger congestion in August 2026, with approximately 2.6 million travelers projected to pass through the airport. A total of 47 airlines, including Israeli carriers, will operate flights to a wide range of global destinations. The most popular destinations this month include Greece, Cyprus, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, and Germany.

On weekdays throughout August, excluding weekends, daily passenger traffic is expected to range between 90,000 and 95,000 arrivals and departures. On specific dates, August 6, 13, 17, 20, and 27, passenger numbers are anticipated to reach around 100,000 per day, marking peak congestion periods.

The Israel Airports Authority advises travelers to arrive three hours before their flight departure, complete online check-in when possible, and verify their terminal and updated departure times in advance. Passengers are encouraged to use self-service kiosks for baggage tagging and drop-off. Those who have checked in online and are traveling with carry-on luggage only can use the expedited W terminal area. Public transportation is recommended for reaching the airport.

Additionally, reservists are reminded to check their bags for any military equipment such as magazines or ammunition before arriving to avoid delays during security screening.
