Maccabi Haifa Officially Releases Matias Nahuel After Two Disappointing Seasons

Maccabi Haifa announced on August 3, 2026, the official release of Matias Nahuel, the club's most expensive signing in history. Nahuel, a Spanish-Argentine attacking midfielder, joined the team in the summer of 2024 from Slask Wroclaw for 2.5 million euros, expected to lead the club following the departure of Charon Sherry. However, his tenure was marred by injuries and underperformance, resulting in only 24 appearances and 3 goals over two seasons.

During his time at Maccabi Haifa, Nahuel was given the number 10 jersey as a sign of trust but was loaned out mid-second season to Polish club Jagiellonia. There, he made 16 appearances without scoring and provided just one assist. Prior to joining Haifa, Nahuel played for notable clubs including Villarreal, Olympiacos, Real Betis, Deportivo La Coruña, Tenerife, and Real Oviedo, and represented Spain at youth international levels.
