Maccabi Haifa Terminates Matias Nahuel's Contract Amid Foreign Player Limits

Maccabi Haifa has reached an agreement to terminate the contract of midfielder Matias Nahuel. The club initially sought to loan or sell Nahuel, but due to a lack of suitable offers, they agreed to part ways, making him a free agent. Nahuel aims to continue his career in East Asia or one of the Gulf leagues to maximize his salary after several challenging seasons in Israel. As part of the agreement, he received partial compensation for the remaining contract period and will now leave Israel and stop training with the team.

Recently, Nahuel trained separately with a group of players no longer in the club's professional plans, highlighting his diminished role. His departure leaves Maccabi Haifa with nine foreign players under contract, including the expected signing of Dickson Mohammed. Since the club can register only eight foreign players, at least two will need to leave to comply with league regulations.

Nahuel was acquired for 1.9 million euros, potentially rising to 2.5 million euros with bonuses. Despite initial expectations that he would be a significant asset, Nahuel is considered one of the club's most notable foreign transfer failures in recent years.
