IDF Charges Nor al-Shams Battalion Commander with Murder of Reserve Sergeant
The military prosecution filed charges yesterday against Kamal Hatib, commander of the Nor al-Shams battalion, for a deadly attack in July 2024. Hatib is accused of remotely detonating an explosive device targeting a security forces vehicle in the Bala neighborhood, which caused the vehicle to overturn, resulting in the death of Reserve Sergeant Yehuda Gato and injuring another person. The indictment includes charges of intentional manslaughter, attempted murder, leading a terrorist organization, arms trafficking, and bomb placement. The Samaria military court ordered Hatib to remain in custody until the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
