IDF and Shin Bet say Gaza Brigade deputy commander behind Oct. 7 raids was killed
The IDF and Shin Bet announced the killing of Imad Hassan Hussein Aslim, described as the deputy commander of Hamas’s Gaza City Brigade and commander of the Zeitoun Battalion in the group’s military wing. According to the announcement, Aslim had overseen the battalion fighters who carried out raids into Israeli territory during the October 7 massacre.
The strike was carried out two days ago. The forces said another Hamas commander was also present at the targeted infrastructure when it was hit, but they said the results of the operation are still being checked.
The announcement ties Aslim directly to the attacks that began the war, and presents his killing as part of continued efforts against senior Hamas commanders involved in the October 7 assault.
