Mohammed Dahlan Highlights Kushner’s Promise to End Israeli Attacks in Gaza Amid Hamas Disarmament Deal

Mohammed Dahlan, a former head of the Preventive Security Service in Gaza and a prominent Palestinian figure in exile, welcomed the recent US announcement of a 15-point roadmap agreement with Hamas and other Palestinian factions. He emphasized that the success of the deal now hinges on Israel’s full commitment to halt daily attacks in Gaza. Dahlan, currently residing in the United Arab Emirates, revealed that he has been in contact with Israeli Security Agency head David Zinai and informed Jared Kushner, who is reportedly working with Israeli officials to stop the strikes on Gaza.

Dahlan urged all Palestinian factions to fully commit to the agreement, cease armed demonstrations, and avoid actions that could jeopardize the deal. He also warned of challenging times ahead during the implementation phase. According to a detailed report in the British Telegraph, Dahlan has played a crucial role in persuading Hamas that disarming is the only way to maintain its political standing. Sources familiar with the negotiations described his involvement over the past two days as pivotal, noting his strong support base in Gaza and good relations with various factions.

The roadmap, unveiled by the US-led Peace Council for Gaza, outlines a gradual, internationally supervised process for disarming terrorist groups and militias in Gaza, alongside a full Israeli withdrawal. Within 14 days of both sides approving the plan, a detailed timetable will be launched, culminating in transferring all civil and security powers to the National Committee for Gaza Administration (NCAG). The plan enforces the principle of "one authority, one law, one weapon," requiring Hamas and other factions to relinquish control and store heavy weapons and tunnels exclusively under NCAG authority.

The disarmament and law enforcement will be coordinated with a phased Israeli military withdrawal, monitored by an international verification committee and supported by an international stabilization force. Dahlan, who was ousted from Gaza after Hamas took control in 2007, is considered close to UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed and has leveraged his connections to propose a political partnership to Hamas against Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
